FAQ for MEGA Electric Print E-mail

Will I be able to get insurance for the MEGA City?

Yes. Mega vehicles have been on Britain’s roads for many years and insurers are fully conversant with them. Mega vehicles fall into one of the lowest insurance categories (the precise category varies from insurer to insurer) so they are very economical to insure. In the unlikely event that you have problems securing insurance for one of our vehicles, please contact us.

How much will I pay in road tax  (the road fund licence)?

Nothing for electric vehicles. £35 per year for diesel models.  Aixam Mega vehicles are ultra fuel efficient and therefore they are either exempt from Road Tax, or pay it at a reduced rate.

What is the cost of charging the electric models?

The ongoing running cost per mile for the vehicle has been estimated at around 1.5p, including electricity and maintenance. (The precise fuel cost per mile will vary according to the rates being charged by electricity suppliers.)

What other savings can I make by driving a Mega electric vehicle?

All electric vehicles are exempt from the London Congestion Charge. They also qualify for free parking in some car parks and on the road locations.
For business users, purchase of electric vehicles can attract a variety of grants: specifying and using the vehicles can also help public sector organisations and large businesses to meet environmental targets and avoid the imposition of penalty charges.

How do I charge an electric vehicle?

Mega’s electric batteries take between 5 and 8 hours to charge from their fully discharged state. It is also possible to apply 'top-up' charges as required with no memory effect to the batteries.

They can be charged, often for free, from the growing number of roadside re-charging points in towns and cities (especially London), or from any standard domestic or commercial power point.

What warranty period is offered with the vehicle?

Two years.

How often will I need to get the vehicle serviced?

We recommend that you have the batteries and all systems checked out at 6 monthly intervals.
